Choosing your bean

Where can I find good beans?

The best way to choose a blend is to get out of your house and start trying different blends at different cafe's. Note what beans they are using and where they get them roasted. Once you've been to at least 20 different coffee bars you will have an idea of what you like, but before you buy there are a few things you need to know.

Rule #1: Use your own grinder.

Never get coffee ground for you. Ground coffee only hours before it goes stale, you should only ever grind coffee moments before you brew it and ideally just enough for that drink. For best results, ALWAYS use your own grinder.

Rule #2: Buy your coffee as fresh as possible.

Always ask when the coffee has been roasted before purchasing. Espresso generally has a life span of 5-7 days. In addition to that most coffees will taste best on their 3rd and 4th day. If the coffee bag isn't dated, ask; if they don't know, don't bother. Strategically buy enough so that you can use it within the life span of the coffee. This will depend on how much coffee your drinking.

Rule #3: Remember these two rules when buying coffee beans.
